What You Should Do Before Joining the Boat

✔️ Request written proof of insurance covering crew, passengers, and the vessel itself.
✔️ Ask for evidence of the skipper’s current qualifications, endorsements, and commercial tickets.
✔️ Verify whether the vessel is surveyed or registered for any commercial use.
✔️ Inspect the condition and maintenance log of the boat.
✔️ Seek independent advice from a maritime safety authority, surveyor, or experienced professional.

 

Why It Matters

Maritime safety is non-negotiable.
Crew and passengers have the right to:

• Know the vessel is safe

• Know the skipper is properly qualified

• Know they are insured

• Know standards are being followed
